This is where I always stay when I’m in Meung-Sur-Loire. Located just by the river, so it has a hard to beat view!
I only had breakfast as I’m always eating dinner at my friends house when I am visiting. But I would guess that the dinner is good too. The breakfast has everything you need.
The hotel has been occupied by the English, and the rumours says that king Jean Le Bon used it as a overnight stop during his travels to Poitiers. And it was around this property, between Orleans and Beaugency, that the British was stopped by Jean d’Arc at the beginning of the fifteenth century. She resided at Relais Louis XI with her troops.
King Louis 11 of France had his personal stable as well as a dependency built here, to host his marshals, riders, horses etc.. He also stayed here once during a trip in the region.
It is a magical place to stay at. Most rooms are really nice, I only had one room that wasn’t nice here. (At the bottom floor)
Room 102, really nice.
If you stay here, if you go up through the tower or the tiny little stairs in the garden. Then there is a secret lush garden where you relax!
