Innis and Gunn

Innis & Gunn was founded in 2003 by Dougal Sharp (Gunn). It all started out when he tried out beer on friends and family after he had been experimenting for a while. And they all adviced him to give it a go. It took him a year to get it going, and his parents came up with the name! Today it’s a success and the small brewery moved to a bigger location in 2016. Today he is running the business with his brother Neil (Innis) Sharp.
One thing that comes to my mind while visiting the brewery is that it’s so quiet, and everyone I talk to is so chatty and helpful. This is how it is when you love your job!

Innis & Gunn uses a variety of ways to make their beer. One is that you store the beer on whiskey barrels ”beer into beer”. The other is barrel into beer , that is when you add parts of the whiskey barrel into the beer while storing it. But they ain’t afraid of adding other things to the beer, one thing they do is a lot of different flavoured beers. One was mango and that was really popular. This is we’re the malt goes into the brewery from in long pipes. Squeezing our the yeast through a sheet filter. Different kinds of malt gives different kinds of flavour. Coffee, chocolate, Amber is some of them. Me and Susanne Histrup at the brewery.

Master brewer Ken, he is the expert. And he can speak a bit of Swedish! Dougal and Neil Sharp. Their father was a brewmaster to.

Lunch, one of the best Fish’n Chips ever with a beer of course. Funny thing, I didn’t like beer until I had a Innis & Gunn the first time. And then I hadn’t been drinking beers for years.
