BASIL DROPS COCKTAIL

  2. Blanda alla ingredienserna i en blender med is.
  3. Sila ner i ett martiniglas. Servera!

  • Så här gör du sockerlag;

ENGLISH BASIL DROPS RECIPE

My favorite cocktail in Shanghai is Basil Drops at Sichuan Citizen. This is three of my versions of it. I hope you will like it as much as I do! The way they do it at Sichuan Citizen in Shanghai is that they use a blender and they strain the cocktail. I will give you three different ways to mix a Basil Drops Cocktail, see the notes in the end.

BASIL DROPS, THE WAY THEY DO IT AT SICHUAN CITIZEN

  • 5 CL VODKA (I normally use Virtuous Vodka Blonde)
  • 5 CL LIME CORDIAL (they use Watsons at Sichuan Citizen, I use Rose’s Lime Cordial when I’m in Sweden)
  • A HANDFUL OF BASIL LEAVES, NO STEMS!
  • 3 SL SYRUP
  • SUGAR FOR THE RIM
  • LIME OR LEMON FOR THE RIM
  • ICE CUBES
  • EGG WHITE

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Add some caster sugar at a plate. Moisten the rim of the glas with the lime or lemon wedge, and then roll the rim of the glas in the caster sugar.
  • Add all the ingredients and some ice cubes into a blender, mix.
  • Strain the cocktail into the glas with a strainer into a martini glass!

SOME DIFFERENT WAYS TO MAKE THE BASIL DROPS COCKTAIL

  • So you can skip the straining part if you want to keep the basil leaves in the cocktail, you get a even greener cocktail if you keep them. Just blend the cocktail even longer so that the leaves are in really small pieces.
  • Some people don’t like egg in their cocktails, skip the egg part. It tastes delicious without too! And here you can either strain the cocktail into a glass, or blend it for a longer time so that the pieces are really small.
  • Another version is than you add some coconut cream on top, instead of adding an egg white in the cocktail.
  • Non alcoholic version, just add 5 cl of water instead of vodka!

Enjoy!!

Tjoget, Sweden’s Best Cocktailbar of the year

Yesterday they won the prestigious prize as Sweden’s Best Cocktail bar of the year. They also became the 37th best bar in the world this year! Not bad! I know that they have a great selection of beer and wine, but I only had cocktails here as I really like a good cocktail. So if you are in Stockholm, I would recommend this bar for one of your nights. They also serve South European and Middle Eastern inspired food. Preferably you have the food with some cocktails! Tjoget opened up in 2012, and is runned by the two childhood friends Joel Söderbäck and Andreas Bergman. Intresting fact, they have their own ice factory so that they will have the perfect ice!

Address

Tjoget, Hornsbruksgatan 24, Stockholm

Take the tube to Hornstull, it is literally just one minute away from the station.

The Silo

The Silo is a former grain silo located just by Nordhavn’s waterfront in Copenhagen. And lucky me, my friends live there. So after dinner we just went up there to have some cocktails. And they didn’t disappoint us! But next time I’ve gotta eat there. I know that they have some great chefs there. Both Denny Vangsted and Morten Falk. So the food should hopefully be good.
