Chinese New Year

So it is now the year of the pig. We celebrate the Chinese New Year every year with a nice dinner at our house.

I am not chinese, but my daughter is. And I lived there for nearly 7 years. So that’s why;)

This year I made 6 different dishes, and it took me a day to prepare. Chinese food is all about cutting it all into little pieces and mixing it with ginger, Chili and garlic. And other little things;)

I will add lot’s of recipes at the blog.

So what should you drink with the food?

This year I had the best paired wine with the food ever. Two different kinds of Stoneleigh from New Zealand.

I actually preferred the Chardonnay with the food. It was a perfect match! But my husband liked the other one better. I will stock up with the Stoneleigh Latitude Chardonnay because it’s the best wine I ever had with the Chinese food. And I have 16 years of experience of chinese food and wine;)

The food I make is just a little bit spicy, the Shanghai style of cooking. I did make a Sichuan dish too, and I still loved the Chardonnay with it. The wine is very rich and well just buy it, trust me!

The Wild Valley Sauvignon Blanc was a good one too, but more on the sweet side. I had this one with fish the other night and it was perfect!

So just stay updated on my blog, and I will give you all those recipes to go with the wine!

Enjoy!!

Allegrine

Danyel Couet’s Allegrine is a “french” restaurant with a Swedish touch. The name comes from Danyel’s grand mother. And she was a the one that got Danyel interested of food. The interior is spot on perfect. It has a relaxed vibe, but jet everything is just right.

The food is modern French cuisine, and you find duck A’La Orange, lobster, Cote de Boeuf, Steak Tartare etc..

For me, this is a place I just wanna come back too. Because I wanna try out the whole menue, and the place is perfect during the colder season:)

I would recommend you to book a table!

Champagne Palmer

Tried out the fab champagne Palmer Blanc de Noirs yesterday with food. I wonder why people aren’t drinking champagne when they have a nice meal. I have always liked it, and with the food we were served yesterday it worked our perfectly!

We started out with some Vendance roe from Kalix, duckliver terrine and some caviar accompanied with some Palmer Blanc de Noirs.

And then we had a veal fillet.

With the cheese we were served a Magnum Blanc de Noirs;) Yummy ! I love cheese and champagne!!

Food Tours Stockholm

Yesterday I went on a Food Tour in Vasastan. And as I am not so familiar with Vasastan, that is a perfect way to learn.

We started off with trying out the taste of wine in different kinds of glass. Oh man, what a difference it is!!

At Ă–sterqvist Delikatesser I had the best ham ever! It’s not cheap, but worth every penny! We also gotta try the award winning cheese, Klostertahler.

And then it was time for tea, at Dear Tea Society. This is a place where they have a big knowledge of tea. And to my big surprise they treated us with two Pu Er teas!! Which is my favourite!

Good chinese, even for me that lived there for nearly 7 years. Hurray!! It was just like in China, I will go here again. That’s for sure!

After 2 drinks at Erland’s we took of for Shanti Ultimat for some really fresh Bengali food. Very tasty, and the service was top notch!

Last stop, coffee and a vegan carrot cake at Systrarna Andersson. The coffee they serve is superb! And all the buns looked fab! A very nice coffee shop, and great service!

Birthday

So it was my birthday yesterday. And when my husband asked what I wanted to eat, then I told him that I wanted some of the nice ham and cheese that I brought home from Logrono in Spain. So we just added some shrimps, avocado and some other things. And had a very simple but nice meal.

Sometimes easy is the best!
